Frequently Asked Questions

How many hours will you be on-site?

A normal work day for a corporate video would be around 8 hours but if we are doing feature work, music video or commercial deals we are ready to work longer or harder. It really depends on the project. No matter what we are doing though we will do what it takes to get the job done.

What is included in the RED One Camera Rental package?

It depends on what the production calls for. Sometimes we are doing a simple outdoors shoot and need only the 18-50 lens and a single hard drive. If we are doing a feature we will bring everything we can to be prepared for any situation that we may encounter because we never know what a DP or Director will ask for next. We will work out a specific approach to your shoot and bring as little or as much as you want to make sure we can get the shots. Full grip and electric packages are also available and can be built into any camera package at extremely affordable rates. Let us know what you want and we will set up a completely custom package.

What if I already have a DP that wants to operate, what do you do?

Our technicians are at your complete disposal no matter what the job description is. It doesn't make a difference if you need a Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) to look over the settings on the camera and give confidence to the DP that the camera is set optimally or if you need a Digital Loader or Data Management Technician (DMT) we can do that too in order to ensure that all the validated data that comes out of the camera is stored perfectly and redundantly. IF you do not have a Director of Photography then by all means let us talk with you and if we can provide the level of lighting that you need for your production and we will be happy to 'run the show' so to speak. Don't forget that most any time you run a camera with a Super 35mm sensor you will also want a dedicated 1st AC to pull focus and change lenses and filters among many other duties. In the end, if you have a need in the camera department no matter how big or small your crew is our technician will be more than happy to step up and do that job and do it well.

What do you do to ensure that the data from the camera is good?

In nearly every occasion we will watch the clips to be transferred to visually check all the footage and then transfer all the footage to one of our drives and the client's drive and do a checksum process on all the footage to ensure that all copies take place perfectly. The data is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING and we take the process very seriously and maintain as many fail safes as possible just in case anything bad could happen. We utilize the latest version of R3D Data Manager with its comprehensive transfer, encode and checksum abilities.

What if I have never used RED footage in post before?

Our resident RED One expert Justin McAleece will go over all the ins and outs of shooting with the RED One before you record a single frame. We can comprehensively assist you before, during and after production to guarantee that your experience with the RED One camera and workflow is an enjoyable experience.
