Zeiss 100mm T2.1 Standard Speed Prime lens review on a Red One Camera at 4k 24fps ISO 320, 5000 Kelvin, saturation 1.5 key lit by daylight bulbs.
The next two pictures are from a Zeiss 100mm Standard Speed lens. We recently had a RED One rental for a music video production that we rented this lens for. The director wanted a longer lens for closeups and this ended up working great. The director and talent loved how it looked on the monitor and so we decided to print these tests online. It's interesting to notice when comparing these lenses that the Zeiss was a little brighter and was stopped down a little more than the RED 18-50. Red = f2.8 Zeiss =~ f3.5. Overall, I noticed slightly more contrast in this lens but definitely more CA and less overall sharpness as compared to the 18-50 at 18mm. This lens also did not have the slight warm color balance that the RED 18-50 had. It seemed whiter. Remember though that the RED lens was wide open and the Standard Speed was nearly a stop and a half from wide open. This should have gotten rid of the CA and sharpened it but it was still somewhat noticeably softer and had the purple fringe on the focus chart. Still impressive though. Not quite a Master Prime :) Once again I also shot a quick look at the flaring which is hard to tell in a still but nevertheless gives you some idea.
